I'm having trouble connecting from my web browser.
See the Connection Issues page.
My browser crashes when using WebSharing.
- Adobe Flash is used for file uploads with the full version of WebSharing, and for media playback in all versions. It is by far the most likely cause of a browser crash. We strongly recommend that you update your version of Flash to the latest version by downloading it from Adobe's site.
- For file uploads, you can disable the Flash-based uploader and instead use your browser's default file uploader. The downside to this solution is that you will only be able to upload one file at a time. To do this, visit the "View" menu in the web application, and select the "Preferences" option. Then set the "File Upload" option to "Single File Upload".
How do I upload multiple files or folders?
- The full version allows multiple files to be uploaded at one time using the web interface. This feature requires the latest version of Adobe Flash to be installed on your computer.
- Uploading entire folders is not supported in the web interface because it would not be possible without the installation / development of browser plugins. Browsers themselves and Adobe Flash do not provide a means to upload folders.
- The full version allows the upload of both multiple files and folders using WebDAV. See the WebDAV help section for details.
I can't upload files greater than 2GB.
- Web browsers limit the maximum uploaded file size to 2GB. This is a limitation of the web browser itself.
I can't play music.
- Adobe Flash is used for media playback. Make sure your computer has a recent version of it installed. We recommend version 10 or later.
- Adobe Flash is capable of playing only MP3 and AAC audio files. Windows Media Audio and Ogg Vorbis are not supported by Adobe Flash. You can still use WebSharing to transfer Windows Media Audio and/or Ogg Vorbis files to/from your phone/device.
I can't watch certain videos.
- Adobe Flash is used for media playback. Make sure you have the latest possible version of it installed on your computer. We recommend version 10 or later.
- Additionally note that the video player is only capable of playing certain video formats, notably MP4, FLV, and some versions of 3GP. Most video recordings taken on Android handsets are in the 3GP format. Recordings made by some Android handsets use the "AMR" codec for the audio portion of the recording, which Flash does not support. If your handset uses this AMR codec, its recorded videos will likely be unplayable without first downloading them to your computer.
Some videos take a long time to load.
- Many videos must be downloaded in their entirety from the device to your computer before they can be played, which can take some time. This is typical for 3GP videos which have been recorded by the phone itself.
I can't see video thumbnails.
- Video thumbnails require a device running Android 2.0 or later.
- Phones with separate internal and external storage do not yet provide the capability to retrieve video thumbnails for videos housed on the internal storage. This is due to the phone itself not providing any means for third-party applications to retrieve such thumbnails.
The WebSharing Application crashed with a "Force Close" error.
- This shouldn't ever happen in WebSharing. But if it does, we're eager to hear from you.
- Please send us an email at android@nextapp.com describing what happened when the application crashed, and we'll try to get it fixed as soon as possible.
- In your e-mail, please tell us what make/model of device you are using, what cellular provider (if applicable), and what kind of computer and web browser you use.
